EPPD: Suspect accused of shooting police officer in South Central El Paso now in custody

El Paso Police have arrested a suspect who they believe shot a police officer near Seville and Sambrano in South Central El Paso earlier Tuesday, Dec. 11.  Police apprehended the suspect, who they described as a Hispanic male, at around 8 p.m. at a residence located on the 100 block of North Clark.  Crisis management team made contact with the suspect but he refused to come out.
3 LEOs Shot In Houston While Serving Warrant

A Harris County Sheriff’s sergeant and two officers from the Texas AG office were injured in a shooting while serving a felony warrant to a home in Harris County. The officers were shot while approaching the suspect’s door. They returned fire, but the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. Another deputy was injured on the way to the scene in a motorcycle crash.

Getting help during an emergency just got simpler. El Paso County has added Text-to-911 as an additional way to request emergency assistance, according to the El Paso Fire Department. Officials say the service should only be used when voice calling is not possible or if it would put the caller in danger.

KTSM has obtained the police report detailing an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead two months ago. As KTSM previously reported, the incident happened October 10 outside of the Pebble Hills police station in East El Paso. Richard Palafox, 76, was identified as the man killed in the exchange with officers. KTSM.

A Texas sheriff's deputy has been shot and a suspect is in custody after an attempt to serve the man with an arrest warrant ended in gunfire and a three-hour standoff. Authorities say it began Thursday when a deputy went to a La Grange discount store to serve the man with a warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender.

The Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 1205/S. 915) would fully repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO)).  The House bill currently has 190 cosponsors, only 28 short of a House majority and the Senate bill has 26 cosponsors.  This is more support than we have had in the last few Congress.
