Collective Bargaining is the lifeblood of our organization and is under constant attack by municipal groups and some members of the General Assembly. The New Session Will Begin In January, 2017 With The Swearing-In Of New Legislators.
Any legislation amending Act 111 of 1968, which governs the bargaining rights for law enforcement officers.
Any legislation affecting a law enforcement officer’s ability to advocate with their chosen representatives and eliminating their right to voluntary deductions and contributions.
Any legislation which would change state or municipal law enforcement officer’s pension plans from a defined benefit system to a defined contribution or hybrid system. Law enforcement officers face circumstances that require disability and retirement age protections. Additionally, most Pennsylvania law enforcement officers are not covered through their government employment in the Social Security System. The PA-FOP welcomes the opportunity to provide meaningful discourse with regard to consolidation and sustainability for all plans, especially as it relates to the Pennsylvania law enforcement community and their families.
An Act amending the act of July 23, 1970 (P.L.563, No.195), known as the Public Employee Relations Act, in public policy, further providing for declaration of intent; in definitions, further providing for definitions; and, in scope of bargaining, further providing for maintenance of membership and prohibiting collective bargaining agreements from requiring certain deductions.
